Three NYPD Officers Charged in Towing Company Bribery Scheme — Directed Crash Vehicles for Cash

Three current and former NYPD officers were charged with participating in a bribery scheme in which they directed damaged vehicles from accident scenes to a licensed tow truck and auto repair business in exchange for thousands of dollars in cash payments, bypassing the department's Directed Accident Response Program from September 2016 through at least June 2017, according to the DOJ Eastern District of New York. The officers allegedly accepted bribes for each vehicle steered to the business.
