Multiple organizations now offer electric vehicle recovery certification for tow operators, including WreckMaster's Hybrid Electric Vehicle Operations course, the NFPA's EV Tow and Salvage Online Training, and the Energy Security Agency's EV Tow Awareness Course, according to program listings from each provider. Courses cover high-voltage shutdown procedures, thermal runaway identification, safe loading and transport protocols, and post-incident storage requirements for EVs and hybrids. TRAA identified EV incident response as a top legislative priority during its February 2026 Hill Day in Washington. As EV adoption accelerates, the gap between vehicles on the road and operators certified to safely recover them continues to widen.
