Volkswagen has issued three separate recalls in under two months for the ID.4 electric SUV over battery fire risk, affecting approximately 44,000 vehicles, according to NHTSA filings. The most serious recall identifies 1,299 vehicles manufactured between November 2022 and September 2024 with misaligned battery electrodes that increase fire probability. VW told those owners to park outside immediately after charging and not leave vehicles in a garage. If a manufacturer is advising consumers not to park a charged EV inside their own home, the question for every VSF operator is whether a damaged ID.4 sitting on your lot presents the same risk to your yard, your inventory, and your neighboring vehicles.
