Ohio Raises Commercial Vehicle Registration Fees 17 Percent — California and New Hampshire Also Increasing

Ohio will increase non-apportioned commercial vehicle registration fees from $30 to $35, a 17 percent increase, with the revenue directed to the State Highway Patrol, according to WCPO Cincinnati. California raised commercial vehicle rates for trucks over 6,000 pounds effective January 1, and New Hampshire increased fees across nearly all motor vehicle categories on the same date.

Operator takeaway

Registration fee increases are small individually but compound across a fleet — check whether your state raised commercial vehicle fees this year and update your per-truck operating cost calculations before the next contract negotiation.
