Texas Department of Public Safety troopers will increase statewide patrols from April 6 through April 13 as part of Operation CARE, targeting drivers who fail to slow down or change lanes for stopped emergency vehicles, according to the Texas DPS April 3 release. More than 5,007 Move Over, Slow Down violations have already been issued in Texas in 2026 — each a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $1,250.
Operator takeaway
With DPS patrols elevated starting Monday, brief your drivers on visibility protocol for active scenes — and expect more enforcement contact on Texas highways through April 13.
